Most high school seniors are excitedly preparing to put on their cap and gown and looking forward to the future right now. Kaitlyn Hunt, 18, is instead fighting bigotry and hoping she won’t be forced to go to jail instead of college. Her crime? Dating another student – a female student.

My First Year as a Woman, by Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace
I’m glad a major magazine like Cosmo did a piece on Laura, but I’m extremely disappointed that they referred to Laura with male pronouns, when she clearly identifies as a woman. Also they said Laura “was becoming a woman.” No, she is a woman, she was a woman, and still is a woman. One’s birth sex does NOT define your gender.
